Fairview Containerised VSD Pump Station | Auckland

Smart pump station solution solved challenging location

Project Background

Anglo Tasman was appointed by Watercare to design, build and supply a containerised Variable Speed Drive (VSD) pump station, solving the challenge of a difficult site with limited space.

The aim of the project was to provide a pump station solution that could be installed on a site with very tight space constraints. The client was unsure of the optimal solution required, but we worked with them to create a solution that worked within the constraints of the site and helps to save money on an ongoing basis through the efficiencies provided by the VSD technology.

Scope of Work

Anglo Tasman were engaged to help scope the design and installation requirements of the project. Our experience allowed us to introduce smart solutions that could provide more efficient use of energy and other resources. Our Scope of Work included the following:

  • Project Management and Supervision of design, installation.

  • Containerised Pump Station supply

  • Electrical/Mechanical installation

  • Development and management of permits isolation procedure

The design and installations were focused on providing a workable solution for the limited site space available. The Anglo Tasman team further explored the opportunity for energy efficiency with the use of a Variable Speed Drive (VSD) pump, which could provide more control of the motors, assisting energy management and reducing wasted energy.

The containerised solution came with the benefit of allowing everything to be built within one environment, lowering our carbon footprint and removing the need for difficult onsite building work.

The project was completed on time and to specification resulting in a positive outcome for the client.

Challenges

The site location provided one of the biggest challenges of the project. Our containerised solution provided an ideal outcome that allowed for the pump station build to happen off-site, where resources and access was significantly easier and more cost effective. Once complete, the container could then be moved into place on site. Our value-engineering approach meant we were able to provide an innovative solution with smart technology that ultimately saved the client money.
